Mathematics is offered as a subject in the BEd Primary degree. The courses are designed to develop a deeper understanding of a wide variety of topics in both Pure and Applied Mathematics and to give an appreciation of how mathematical techniques may be applied to problems which exist in the real world. Full use is made of modern electronic aids (graphic calculators, personal computers and associated software) to take the drudgery from numerical computation, graphical display and symbol manipulation and leave students free to concentrate on problem solving, both real world and theoretical.
