The Living Church

21 January 2015

The course, “A Quick Journey through the Bible”, aims to take Catholics from where they are and bring them through the Bible story. People who have completed the eight weeks in our neighbouring parish of St Paul’s Belfast left the course with a new sense of what an amazing story the Bible has to tell.

The Living Church office, in the Diocese of Down and Connor, is encouraging parishes across the Diocese to prepare to give the course during Lent. As part of the preparation, they hosted the first Diocesan webinar in St Mary’s University College Belfast on Wednesday, 14 January. The group joined people from across the Diocese, USA and Canada who had logged in from their own homes.

Catholics have been listening to Bible stories every Sunday for their whole lives. We’ve heard about Adam and Eve, about Abraham and King David and the Prophet Isaiah, and many, many more. The thing is that we don’t really know how they all fit together. Was King David before or after Isaiah? Was the exile in Babylon before the slavery in Egypt? Sometimes it feels like a great big stew of information.
