Cuppa and Catch Up

18 November 2015

On Thursday, 12th November, St Mary’s University College hosted the first Michaela Foundation “Cuppa and Catch Up” event. The event was established after Summer Camp volunteers expressed a desire to network informally with other volunteers during the year.

The event was well attended with representatives from seven different Ulster-based camps in attendance. The event gave volunteers the opportunity to catch up over a cuppa, reminisce on the camp season and prepare for summer 2016! Entertainment was provided by Antrim Camp leader Dymphna Clenaghan (student of SMUCB) and Roisin Sheridan, Monaghan Camp leader (student at UUJ).

When asked about their motives for attending the event, one volunteer said, “I went to catch up with girls I haven’t seen in a while, to get to know other leaders and to de-stress from uni work”. Another said, “I wanted to spend time with the MF family: it makes everyone happy”.

Thanks to the positive feedback from attendees and the continued support from St Mary’s University College, plans are underway already for a Christmas Cuppa and Catch Up event.
