Members of the Senior Leadership Team at Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) were welcome guests at St Mary’s University College to discuss various educational issues of our time and to plan for further collaboration between the organisations.

During the course of the discussions St Mary’s and CCMS reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating educational enhancement in Northern Ireland and to tackling disadvantage wherever it occurs through a partnership approach with other stakeholders.

Both organisations recognise the critical role that teachers play in our society and the increasing pressures that are being placed on the teaching profession. CCMS is the employing authority for teachers in over 400 Catholic schools whilst St Mary’s has been providing teacher education since 1900. The University College has started a new Teaching Profession Project which seeks to give a voice to teachers and teacher educators on important issues.
