PLiCs

7 December 2022

Every year students from St Mary’s and Stranmillis University Colleges come together as part of their Professional Learning in a Changing Society (PLiCS) programme.

This year we were delighted to welcome Mrs Mary McMahon (Pastoral Vice-Principal at St Paul's High School in Bessbrook), Roland Freund (Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at St Ursula’s College, Dusseldorf, Germany) and Hilary Johnston (Principal at Harmony Hill Primary School in Lisburn) to speak to a number of year 3 and 4 BEd Primary and Post-Primary students.

The focus for the conference was 'Working with Diverse School Communities: Leadership in a Changing Context'. The students had the opportunity to hear from the educational leaders about how schools are developing their ethos and practice to support and embrace diverse pupil and staff populations while creating a welcoming and inclusive school community. This was a great opportunity for the students to reflect on what it means to be a leader in developing this ethos and work, including the opportunities and challenges involved.

Many thanks to all our guest speakers for their participation in this year's PLiCs event.
