Standard loans = 3 weeks

Renewals

Overdue items incur fines. For information on fines see the Loans policy. Library books may be renewed twice provided there are no outstanding fines. Books requested by other readers and consultation items cannot be renewed.

Reservations

Books out on loan can be reserved through the catalogue. Once the book becomes available the requester will be informed. (Consultation books cannot be reserved)

 

Recalled Items

When an item on loan is reserved by another reader it will be recalled via college email with a new return date, usually six days from the date of the recall notice. Fines will apply if the recalled book becomes overdue. For fines information see Loans policy.

 

Consultation

Two items may be borrowed for a maximum of three hours. Failure to return Consultation materials on time will incur fines.

Help Desk

Library staff offer guidance and advice for readers on the best use of library resources. Services include:

  • answering library and reference queries
  • information skills training sessions on finding and using relevant print and online e-resources
  • one to one or small group Library induction sessions
  • conducting bibliographic searches

Study Rooms

The library is a quiet area. Where students need to work together, two study rooms are available. These can be booked through the Help Desk.
An open access computer suite is also available on the top floor.

 

Inter-Library Loans

Material not held in the College library or other local libraries may be obtained through the Inter-library loan service. This is usually available to final-year and masters students although exceptions can be made - please speak to library staff.

 

Photocopying/ Scanning

One colour copier/scanner is available

Two B&W copiers/scanners are available

Two printers are available:

One on the upper floor, one on the lower floor

Laptops

Twenty laptops are available for use in the library and can be borrowed for 4 hours. Wi-Fi is available for personal laptops.
